Slowing down a bit

Shortly after the previous post, Maggie filmed him walking to her. Note: She doesn't let him fall. Also, I don't think he wanted to be filmed, because he covers the lens like you always see people do.

One of my mental blocks as a writer is trying to figure out my audience. That was always a tricky question for me to answer when writing papers in college? Who am I writing this paper for, exactly? The college professor who is grading me, obviously. But what about the blog? Who am I writing for? Is it just for me and then I launch it out into the world in case someone else needed what I did? Is it a convenient way to communicate with family both near and far? To honor those who have come before me and those who come after? Is my rambling for friends? People with depression? Parents? Women? Mormon? Ex-Mormon? People with chronic pain? (I would argue we all live with chronic pain but I digress...) Will my words find English majors? Magical Mystery Tour

Image
So I've been holding off on showing pictures of our house until we're more settled in.  As in CLEANED UP. But that may be a while.  I know a few people who want to see it in all it's "glory".  We are in fact living here.  Which explains the mess.  (I know I should be cleaning instead of blogging but I have all day to do that and the boychild is napping...) Also after listening to "Gifts of Imperfection" (audio book ) I've decided to show you the REAL thing.  I did make my bed before taking pictures. But that's it.  Here she is, with no further ado (and still no name) OUR HOUSE:  When you first walk in you will see this: Our living room. Conduit on the ceiling means our house won't burn down from crazy old wiring.  Looking back to the front door now.  (All of the decorations on the mantel are so I can see them all and take stock of what I want where.)  (Still standing at the door) to your left we have the craft/play/c...

Don't Fix Things That ARE Broken

Image
"If it's not broken don't fix it? Is that what you said?"  "No.  Don't fix things that are broken," is what my clever oldest son said to me after the rush of adrenaline was over.   Just to keep it real I'll let you know that I'm thoroughly embarrassed for not thinking things through BEFORE I did it. And the fact that I might indeed need help in truly fixing it. I'm also soaking wet as I type this so I can't actually have the laptop ON my lap.   Plumbing. Not for the weak.  ...also not for those who don't think about where the water COMES from before removing things....oops.  So today I had the brilliant idea to give the boys haircuts.  After some phone Netflix bribing and promise of lots of bubbles in their bath the task was accomplished.  Outside so cleanup was minimal.  Just the kids.  I run their bath water with enough bubbles to make full Santa beards and hats and chest hair for both of them.  Us...
