Well it's Not Easter...

Image
But I'm going to resurrect the good ol' family blog anyway. There will be much to do in filling in the blanks. Most of that will likely never get filled in (sorry) but I'm working on highlights of the last few years. Because, boy howdy! It's been a ride! Not sure anyone reads this anymore (I know I didn't keep up with others' blogs when I stopped blogging...) but HI! We're still here.

Red Dirt and lots of it!

Small town life. Con: Stores close at 8 or 9 or 6pm. Shop early.  Pro: This means you're forced to get everything done and then can have actual FAMILY time.  Con: Middle of "no-where". Pro: Within a couple hours of Arches, Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, Canyonlands, Natural Bridges and other NATURAL wonders. Con: Less People.  Pro: You find a few good friends and ya stick with 'em.  Also traffic? What's that?  Con: One stop light. Pro: Out of town-ers mistake it for an actual stoplight instead of a blinking red.  Nobody knows when to go. Thus providing a good laugh.  Unless you're from here- in which case you grumble about "tourists" and "it's a 4-way stop buddy".  But I still think of myself as a transplant and thus smile when they're stuck waiting for a green light that will never come.   While coming home from taking Ian to school this morning I was thinking about how much of living in a more populous ar...

Land that I love.

Image
Land that I love.  So grateful to celebrate the freedoms we are blessed with with those I love.  My mom came out for the 4th and we showed her how small town America celebrates. Melodrama Midnight Madness (softball games all night)  Parade with lots of candy (two buckets full) Carnival with booths and super nummy food Greased Pig Catching (or chasing in Ty's case) Concert in the park and FIREWORKS The town shuts down for the 4th (basically) and it was great to see the whole town coming together to have a great time It was a long hard week with the death of Sean's Grandpa July 5th.  Grateful my mom could be with us to help us and we sure enjoyed her company.  I'm not feeling so good with words today so here are the pictures.  See the wet street? The much prayed for rain came just in time to cool things off for the parade and then again just as the fireworks finished.  Pretty cool. This is Lando's "Wobble Tar" that he decorated for ...

the BOMB Mom

Image
That would be my BOMB MOM on the left:  (Little Seester gave her that shirt.) My Mom and Sister decided to come visit me since I whined enough  and I'm so glad they did. It was wonderful to visit and be with one another again.  The boys were so excited to see Oma that they ran to greet her when we all met up at the pizza place.  I'm only adding these FEW pictures because perhaps my madre will blog about it and I don't want to be a thunder stealer.    Christie and I decided that we never have enough pictures of us together so we did a little photo shoot- the shirt she made from left over fabric from the skirt I made from the fabric I won .  This last one was our very best one- I will be ordering prints ASAP.  And last but not least- isn't this the cutest little tie-dye wearing, mohawk sporting wee one ya ever did see? By the way: the boys are watching Shaun the Sheep (from the makers of Wallace and Gromit- love it) and I love...

Easter 2012

Image
We went hiking with the in-town in-laws for Easter up Butler Wash . It was awesome.  We like to wear out tiedye shirts when hiking- easy to spot.  Cousins sharing snacks First Ruin Happy Baby At Big Cave Ruin*- Peek A Boo (*my name for it- not official) Inside the cave looking out. Third Ruin- Hard to get into. Us Girls+Charlie stayed behind on that one .  So we could give the baby kisses.  Then we went back home for naps and met back at Grandpa and Grandma's for Egg Hunting.  Holding hands before we let them loose on the yard Look how many I got Mom! Charlie loved playing with the plastic eggs.  Checking out the loot: It was a glorious Easter weekend full of sunshine and happy memories (and Ian and Landon learned firsthand about the dangers of Cactus- they lived to tell the tales.) HAPPY SPRING WORLD!

Heartbreakers

I apologize in advance to all family and friends living far away: The bricks I put on their heads didn't work.  The Biggest Billy goat Gruff will start school in the fall.  He already writes his name and a lot of the alphabet.  We're working on recognizing numbers. "Five-de-Five" = 55 He still loves trains and taking pictures.  His days are spent running around playing "Baby Woody" to his cousin's "Baby Buzz."  It may sound a lot like playing house but it's manly house dangit. "You are a TOY CAR!" which really sounds more like "You ah a TOWE CAH!" For all I know perhaps he's really from Bahston.  The Wee Billy goat Gruff can now babble and roll from back to tummy.  He also likes to watch his hands and pass things back and forth. We're all very proud.  I think he's teething due to the excessive amounts of drool, slight warm and swollen bottom gums from time to time. Unfortunately I think it's goi...

Stay-cation

Friday: So far so good.  Haven't done a whole lot today except watch about 9 episodes of Lie to Me.  Pretty sweet gig this vacation business.  Not my vacation mind you- but my Sister in Law's and Sean managed to take the afternoon off (seeing as he worked late earlier in the week).  Which kind of makes it my vacation too.  More people to play with kiddos less laundry folded than there should have been- a stay-cation if you will. Today it was cold enough outside that I was grateful I left my case of soda in the car so that I didn't even have to wait for it to be refrigerated to enjoy its bubbly goodness. One of the perks of Fall.  Another is that my birthday is just around the corner... HINT HINT BABE- Don't forget :)  Looking forward to more family time this weekend for Charlie Bucket's blessing. It's no Physics Phriday but I'll take it.

Latest and Greatest

Seeing as we're experiencing flood conditions around the valley I thought I'd share some pictures from a brighter day.  A MUCH brighter day.  And a bit windy. Didn't get the amazing family shots I had envisioned. These were the results:  (And fun if not perfect.  Thanks Christie :)   PS- my shirt says, "Peace, Love and California" which encompass pretty much my philosophy on life.
