1.2 miles
In the heat.
Didn't even get a side ache.
Though my hip is sure making itself known tonight. Boy Howdy!

Well (that's a deep subject) I think that's all I have to say about that.

PS- Otter Pops rock my world--but I remember them being a lot bigger....or was I really that much smaller?

Blog Hopping...

So today in Archery....(that's for you dear Beth)

I went out in the garden for a few minutes and now I'm all itchy.  I'm not sure if it was the garden or sitting on the front porch reading in the rain and my fear of weird spiders that's getting to me.  Either way I thought I'd blog hop to take my mind off the phantom itching.

I found THIS. Genius. Chore Chart in the form of an ice cream cone.  I was thinking this would be great for Ian, but who am I kidding? I WANT IT!  But that's a project for another day.

Also found a little girl's veil- but again I'd rather make it for myself.

Then there was the Mento's + Diet Soda Fiasco that I learned first hand (though this link is on someone else's blog) when I tried to make Diet Lemon Pepsi taste better....not possible- but fun science experiment.

Here's a project my sister and I are going to try when we change her flat bike tire (hopefully this week)

And a cool Sponge Ball for washing the car---or throwing at each other.

And there you have it folks.  15 minutes of wasted time.  I mean inspiration...

Now off to clean my bedroom to see if I can find my missing Driver's Licence.  YAY

I cut it off!

Crop tool would be a beautiful thing but I don't have time now.

Happy Pioneer day!

Head Up

This could easily be good advice for all walks of life but today it was my running mantra.  As long as I keep my head up I'm not as tired.  It also provides decent distraction from the pain and fatigue.
 Silly.  Simple. Yet it works.

Good idea:  Running after dinner with the boys.
Bad Idea: Running into a Lion's den after dinner with the boys.

Ok so this didn't happen but I always loved the "Good Idea- Bad Idea" sketch from Animaniacs.
That show is classic.  Ahh.
And Wacko would easily fit in with my boys.

"I'm not wearing any pants! Zazoo!"

Beep. Beep. Snooze.

If nothing else this whole getting up and running thing makes it to where the blog happens more often. :)

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
Sean gets up and snoozes the alarm.
5 minutes later.
Beep. Beep.
Sean gets up and turns off the alarm. (Notice it only took two beeps this time)
Then he rolls over to me and says, "I don't think I really want to go running this morning."
"Ok.  I can take the boys later by myself."  Mmmm. Sleep.
5 minutes later.
"Ok Let's go."
"I thought you didn't want to go..."
"Well I can't go back to sleep."
So we went jogging this morning.
And got attacked by sprinklers that we tried to outrun at CeCe's house.
And I got a major side ache- the likes of which I haven't known in YEARS.
But hey. We got up.
That counts.

Chamber Maid

We have embarked yet again into potty training.  This time we got the wee one his own potty frog.  It looks like this:

A glorified chamber pot.  But whatever.  Maybe he'll be a little more motivated this go around.  He has already christened it with numero uno and was very pleased with himself.  Wish me luck.  All words of encouragement and advice are much anticipated....hint hint.

Getcha Head in the Game

I think it's a bad sign when I'm scripting this blog as I'm running. Just tells you a little bit about where my head was this morning; anywhere but on the road and jogging.  It's amazing to me how big an effect that can have on how well I manage to run.  Not so well in fact.  I felt really slow and full of sand.  Sean says that the first day running after a break is the hardest because your body rebels.  So true.  We missed two days. Well- one was the day of rest and we don't jog that day but we ditched out on Saturday and we paid for it this morning. I even kept thinking, "Gotta getcha getcha getcha getcha head in the game gotta getcha getcha head in the game."  Too bad I don't know the sweet choreography too.  Maybe I'll learn them later today.  Then again...

PS- We added a block to the routine and there was a scary dog on that road.  Sean scared him off by suddenly turning around and barking at him.  Ha- didn't see that one coming did ya dog?  Well you won't see us coming tomorrow either because we won't go down THAT street again.  No thanks.

I hate sweating.  I really do.  Why is it that when I'm working out I'm not so sweaty but the second I stop my body decides it needs to be doing something and breathing isn't enough I have to sweat profusely too. Yuck.  But tonight was a good workout. 2 miles. 10 sets of 60/90.  Sean is a good workout partner; I don't push myself near as much as I do when he's there.  Sad thing is- it doesn't push him so much.  He's naturally in much better shape than I am.  Oh well.  I'm proud of the fact that it's getting easier.  My knees were a little tight tonight and that worries me a little.  As if I really NEED anything to worry about.  :)  So at least we got out tonight.  Time for a cold shower to wash off all this icky sweat and a little water to drink while I watch one more episode of LOST.  We're up to Season 3 now.  About a third of the way through.  I'm loving the drama and the characters.  I don't really care a whole lot if it ends without tying up any of the strings.  It feels like a book the way the characters are coming out.  Anyway. Back to my water.  And LOST.  Good night folks.

Tonight we did the big "block" backwards.  Which essentially means there's a nice hill about halfway through.  It wasn't so bad tonight though.  I felt like I could breathe pretty well and kept up a good pace.  I don't really know how to pace but tonight felt pretty good.  Sean says you shouldn't do crunches before running.  I wouldn't know.  I think he's a little more tired than I am tonight.  I'll credit it to the magical powers of vanilla coke.  Tomorrow won't be an early morning but kind of looking forward to seeing how it goes tomorrow.  I'm already feeling far more confident about this go around than last year.

Now for some LOST. (Just one episode though.)

The "block"

I don't know who is crazier: Me who came up with the idea to go running at 5:30 in the AM or my husband who said he'd go with me.  OY! That is early.  I'm not a huge morning person, except on Saturdays (probably garage sale training) but man this morning was a kicker.  We did our little jaunt around the "block" this morning which is about a mile.  Our block is cut off by the river so it's more like a buncha blocks. I think I could have gone longer but I was done mentally.  Stopped in front of the ginormus rooster house (huge rooster, not huge house) to stretch.  I often forget how much stretching helps.  The plan is this: Every week we add another block to the routine which should add about a quarter of a mile.  We'll be up to the 3+ miles at the end of 9 weeks (which is about how much time we have before the 5k). Just in case you're wondering what's up with all the boring blogs about running?  I figure that I need to write it down and tell someone and this counts as both. Even if no one reads it.  :)

My training thus far...

"Training" for a 5k is harder than it sounds.
In all honesty I'm not training so much as trying to get my lazy body to move once in a while.  I'm no Olympian but I don't really want to be either.  So there.
This morning my lovely sister watched the boys so I could jog at the track (I don't actually like taking the stroller to the track).  My original intent was to see how far I could run.  I changed my mind once I got there.  Instead I did 60/90-- 60 seconds of running followed by 90 seconds of walking. 10 sets.  OY! At first I thought "Hm...more rest time than running time--I've got this in the bag."  Not so my friends. Not so.  But I did it and that's what really matters.  That and I got a little sun too without really meaning to.  Bonus.
Running will never be swimming.  I know that.  I miss swimming.  But swimming is harder to fit into the schedule.  So for now I will run.  September is our 5k and I am determined to beat my time from last year. 45:40. It's hard to believe I could even make my body run for 45 minutes ever.

I'm Old.

Well I thought that when I turned 25 I would feel old.  I was wrong.  It was when I offered to have my baby sister live with us.  She's just starting college.  I graduated from college 4 years ago.  Which means I started 8 years ago... Oh my.  It feels like just yesterday (Isn't that what old people say?) I have two kids.  She has a goldfish.  I spend my days worrying about pukey babies and if I the other moms in playgroup will talk to me.  She spends her days worrying about papers and cute boys.  (I worry about cute boys too but mine are a good 20 years younger than the boys she worries about...) I told her the other day that she makes me feel old.  Her response, "Well, you kinda are."  Thanks.

This moldy oldie and that spring chicken do have a few things in common though.  We both LOVE chocolate, painting our toes, playing dress up, watching LOST on, taking pictures (though probably not as much as mom likes too).  It's been fun having her around and I am certainly grateful for the little/big things; like being home while the boys nap so I can run a quick errand (like the wipee run I had to make today) Thanks little sister for your help....and for reminding me that age will always ride shotgun before beauty.

Cache Valley Cruise In

Something for everybody!
Kid Cars:

Drag Racer

This guy had a fun set up:

The dummies have remote controls so he can turn their heads when you least expect it.  Creepy.

(I liked the old timey feel to it all.)

The good:

The Bad:
(actually I don't remember the bad---but the beater jalopy could fit in this category perhaps)
But the UGLY.... well, let's just say I have different taste than all of these people:

(It does actually have's just low and slow baby)

Sean was excited to see an Electric Vehicle there:

Lotsa batteries
Maybe he'd need a longer extension cord.  I don't even this this one would make it out of the driveway...

A bear in his natural habitat: a Studebaker:

(Get these babies up to 88 MPH and you may find yourself in Monument Valley)

Oh yeah and Sean and I got to sit in this baby:

It's for sale but I just don't have the 35k in

Dukes of Hazzard
Beach Boys
This one is for Sean- It's the symbol for Opal.  Totally looks like a superhero symbol.
They even had Mr. Incredible's Mazda...

(Ian said "Dis not MoMoCyCy"--First lesson about trikes)

Last but not least: Who doesn't need a green car with trailer to match that has ladybug decor?

Happy 4th of July Everyone.

God Bless America.
And Car Shows.
The End.

Landscaping Ahead

In the redesign process I seemed to have lost my archive list.  Hm...
I don't know if I like this new template- Have you found any cool tricks?
